PS 144 PARENTS ASSOCIATION & SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM ELECTIONS: 2025 VOTER GUIDE
April 2025 Parents’ Association Fundraising Report
As of April 2025, the Parents’ Association has raised $89,848.48 (about 72% of our $125,000 goal) to fund student enrichment activities for the coming school year. This report gives details on our revenue sources, how the Parents’ Association uses this money, & how you can help meet our goal (see page two for details about donating).
The Parents’ Association anticipates raising an additional $5,000 during the remainder of the school year. These additional funds will come from future fundraising events (Cocoa Joy Community Bar fundraiser, Restaurant Nights and Yard Sale) and BPN advertising. This will leave us about 24% short of our 2024-2025 goal. If you would like to help us close this gap, please see details below.
How does the Parents’ Association use its budget?
This year $108,200, or 86.5% of the Parents’ Association’s budget, has been allocated to enrichment for the students, including $100,000 for in-school enrichment classes offered free of charge to every student. These classes change from year to year and include fine arts, world languages, music, robotics, STEM topics, dance, and more. For descriptions of these programs, visit https://www.ps144q.org/enrichment_programs. The remaining $8,200 of the enrichment budget is allocated for agendas for upper grade students, career day, green team, and community building events such as the Culture and Food Festival.
$12,700, roughly 10% of the Parents’ Association’s budget, has been allocated to school support. This includes teacher supply stipends, staff appreciation, recess supplies, and school beautification. $4,100, or 3.3% of the budget, has been allocated to operational expenses such as copy paper, office supplies, and CPA fees.
What Does This Shortfall Mean?
If we are unable to meet our goal, we will need to cut back in all spending categories, including enrichment programming, which is the bulk of our spending. This may mean offering shorter programs or fewer programs per grade. We strive to offer each grade a range of activities so that our children will be exposed to many new, interesting experiences throughout their years at P.S. 144.
How can you help?
Consider donating to keep these amazing programs running. No donation is too small. A donation of $144 per child would allow the Parents’ Association to cease sending donation requests and focus on community building events and supporting our families, rather than fundraising. Any amount is valued and helps support our beloved programs. All contributions are tax deductible, as the Parents’ Association is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization (EIN# 11-6201843). If you are able to donate, please return the slip with your donation to your child’s classroom teacher. Please make checks payable to PA of P.S. 144.
